Deliveroo does not publish a single commission rate for UK restaurants. It charges a service fee on every order, agreed individually with each partner, and the percentage depends on your location, order volume and whether Deliveroo or your own staff handle delivery. To know your real cost, you have to read your own agreement.
Delivery remains a large market. Lumina Intelligence's UK Foodservice Delivery Market Report 2026 values it at £14.8bn, up 2.8% year on year. Deliveroo's FY2024 results, published in March 2025, report 296 million orders at an average value of £25.10 across roughly 186,000 partners, so the commission question matters to a lot of kitchens.
What does Deliveroo say about its commission?
Deliveroo's own help centre states that it charges a service fee on every sale for delivering the order and handling customer service, and that a joining fee covers growth tools, an optional tablet and printer, and menu photography. It does not list a percentage.
A Deliveroo spokesperson told NationalWorld in 2021 that commission fees are tailored to each individual arrangement with a restaurant partner. Nothing published since suggests that approach has changed.
What ranges do restaurants report?
Because there is no published rate, most figures online come from restaurant owners and industry guides rather than Deliveroo. Guides from PayoutLedger and Menuviel in 2026 describe rates of roughly 25% to 35% of order value for orders delivered by Deliveroo riders, with lower rates commonly reported for collection or own-delivery orders.
Treat these as reported ranges, not a price list. Your agreement may sit above or below them, and rates are negotiable at signing and at renewal.
What else comes off a Deliveroo payout?
Commission is only the headline figure. Check your partner statements for:
- VAT at 20% charged on the commission itself, which is reclaimable if you are VAT registered
- Payment processing charges, listed separately on some agreements
- Tablet or hardware fees where you use Deliveroo-supplied equipment
- Optional marketing spend on promoted listings and offers
- Refunds and adjustments deducted after the order
Add these together and the effective deduction on a delivered order is usually higher than the quoted commission percentage.
Is Deliveroo's take rate the same as your commission?
No. Deliveroo's FY2024 accounts show revenue equal to 27.9% of gross transaction value, but that figure includes fees paid by customers as well as by partners, across every market. It is a useful signal of the overall economics, not the rate on your contract.
How to calculate your real cost per order
Take a typical £25 basket. Apply your contracted commission, add VAT on that commission, then subtract any processing fee and refunds from last month's statement. Compare the remaining amount with the same order taken through your own website or app, where the only costs are card processing and a flat monthly fee.
Since DoorDash completed its acquisition of Deliveroo on 2 October 2025, partner terms may evolve. Re-read your agreement at each renewal and ask your account manager what has changed.
Deliveroo commission rate UK: the bottom line
The Deliveroo commission rate UK restaurants pay is negotiated, unpublished and typically reported in the mid-twenties to mid-thirties percent for rider-delivered orders before VAT and extras. Marketplaces still bring new customers, but repeat orders are cheaper to take yourself. OrderApps provides commission-free online ordering and branded apps so UK restaurants and takeaways keep more of every direct order.
